Is ‘shared space’ the answer?
RUDI and Local Transport Today, in partnership with Whitelaw Turkington, is organising a one-day event to explore the design and development of integrated street schemes and the application of the ‘shared space’ concept. The event will take place on 10 June 2010 in Ashford, home to the UK’s first ‘shared space’ scheme, and will provide the opportunity to hear from leading experts, take part in workshop exercises and learn from those involved in the Ashford Ring Road Project.
Practitioners involved in the Ring Road Project will lead a site visit and workshops will explore the different aspects of integrated street design with advice from placemaking professionals, artists, local representatives and campaign groups.
This event will be of particular interest to those working for local councils and property development companies who have an interest in the design, delivery and potential of integrated street schemes in the UK.
