The CIOB East Midlands Construction Awards 2010 has shortlisted Hickton in the ‘Committed to Excellence and Quality’ category for the services it provided during construction of the ‘Curve' Performing Arts Centre in Leicester.

The Committed to Construction in the East Midlands Awards are promoted by the Chartered Institute of Building and celebrate the very best of construction works throughout the region.

Hickton is an ISO9001 Clerk of Works practice that provides highly qualified and experienced professionals to ensure that construction projects are completed ‘right first time’.

Leicester City Council, along with Focus Consultants, the project managers on the Curve project, commissioned Clerk of Work services from Hickton to ensure that specifications were correctly implemented on this highly complex build.

Working closely with contractors Bovis on site, Hickton provided Building and M&E Clerk of Works to monitor all aspects of the project.

The £62 million centre, designed by world-renowned architect Rafael Viñoly, is based in the heart of Leicester’s new cultural quarter on Rutland Street.

A spokesperson from Leicester City Council said: “It was extremely useful to have the Hickton Clerk of Works on site as they were able ensure every aspect of the build met the exacting standards of the client. We are delighted that Hickton was shortlisted for the CIOB East Midlands Construction Awards 2010.”

The Curve is now run by Leicester Theatre Trust, a registered charity, and embraces many different theatrical styles and cultures, including musicals, drama, dance and shows for children and community performances.
