Cavalok make a million
Cavalok Building Products has recently celebrated the production of one million metres of cavity closer from post-consumer recycled PVC-U.Profiles for the BBA-accredited cavity closure systems, made from 100% post-consumer recycled PVC-U, are manufactured by Merritt Plastics, which is a post-consumer PVC-U recycling and extrusion company as well as a Recovinyl certified recycler.
The two companies have been working in partnership to reduce the amount of PVC-U waste going to landfill for a number of years.
With their obvious synergies, producing one million metres of Cavalok cavity closer means that the combined companies have saved over 1,000 tonnes of waste PVC-U going to landfill and, in the process, set a benchmark for the sustainable use of resources.
An added benefit of using end-of-life and waste PVC-U to produce the Cavalok range of cavity closers is that the end product itself helps to improve the thermal efficiency of thousands of homes across the country.
“It is an amazing achievement to reach our one millionth metre,” said David Deacon, director at Cavalok Building Products. “It just goes to show how many more housebuilders are now recognising the benefits of using our cavity closers to meet ever more stringent building performance requirements.”
The Cavalok product range is widely used for brick/block, steel and timber frame buildings in the new build residential and commercial sectors. The BigBlok, Economy and Cavalok products speed up installation of windows on site as well as improving the energy efficiency of buildings.
